Context and issues
A major donor organisation commissioned Masae to perform a context study to map out points of interests (infrastructure, amenities), conflicts and vulnerabilities in the area for a sanitation and rainwater drainage project in Al Hamza, Iraq.
Solution
Masae used open-source technologies to develop a process allowing local enumerators to collect geospatial data with their smartphones, draw and upload polygons as well as geo-tagged pictures and survey points.
Findings of the field data collection were combined with publicly available satellite-derived datasets.
The result was shared on a web platform.
